<h3>Since I have been obsessed with almond butter for quite some time, I thought I would try my hand at making these Almond Butter Flaxseed Pancakes. You combine almond butter with your favorite homemade or store-bought pancake mix, flaxseed meal (which can be found at most local groceries), banana and even nonfat Greek yogurt. My kids went nuts over these, and I felt great serving them such an incredibly healthy breakfast. They called them, &#8220;Banana-Nut Pancakes&#8221; which was a great name. These pancakes taste great reheated, and they make a great healthy afternoon snack. Enjoy anytime of the year, but they are perfect for a healthy Christmas break, New Year&#8217;s or weekend breakfast.</h3>

<h3>My father&#8217;s mother, Mary Rich, made the best Honey Cake that I can remember. She died when I was young, but I have never forgotten it. For years, my sisters and I have been searching for a Honey Cake recipe that would rival hers. Last year, my mom&#8217;s incredible friend, Rosalie, brought a Honey Cake to our families Rosh Hashanah holiday dinner, and it was a winner! We loved the recipe so much, and it reminded us of Mary. I hope you will like it as much as we do. It&#8217;s perfect for the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah or any fall celebration. Note: the batter will be slightly liquid, but the recipe turns out moist as can be.</h3>

<h3>I am so excited to announce my partnership with <a href="http://canolainfo.org/">CanolaInfo</a> for their 2011 <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><a href="http://www.world-heart-federation.org/index.php?id=123">World Heart Day</a></span> campaign. As part of my work with them, I created the <a href="http://www.canolainfo.org/recipes/collections.php?detail=38">“Home is Where the Heart is”</a> Recipe Collection, which includes six simple, family-friendly, and heart-healthy recipes (such as these brownies above).</h3>

<h3>World Heart Day, observed on Sept. 29, was created by the <a href="http://www.world-heart-federation.org/">World Heart Federation</a> to encourage heart-healthy habits from regular exercise to nutritious eating. Heart disease remains the world’s number one killer and the World Heart Federation is dedicated to leading the fight against it along with stroke. Together with the <a href="http://www.world-heart-federation.org/">World Heart Federation</a>, <a href="http://canolainfo.org/">CanolaInfo</a> is helping to inform the public on ways to prevent this disease by providing heart-healthy tips, recipes, publications and more.</h3>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3>Besides the recipe collection, I am working with CanolaInfo on some social media events over the next month. On Sept. 1 from 12-1 PM CST, I will be participating in my first ever <a href="http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=261041027246965">“Twitterview!”</a> The folks at @CanolaInfo will be interviewing me (<a href="http://twitter.com/alisonlewis">@alisonlewis</a>) about my new recipe collection and ways I keep my family healthy and active. You can ask your own questions as well, just use #CanolaInfo. In addition, 10 lucky participants will be chosen at random to receive a free cookbook! My daughter, Leigh, made this recipe for me the night I arrived home from being in Italy for a week. I was so excited to come home to my family and true comfort food. These are so spectacular. You don&#8217;t even need to make homemade icing. I wanted to post the recipe for Father&#8217;s Day, but I was traveling again this past week. I realized that this recipe is perfect for so many occasions: Father&#8217;s Day, birthdays, parties, showers or just because. I thought they would be a great way to start off the week so enjoy.</h3>

<h3>My kids are already out of school for the summer, and they are so excited. They love having friends over, of course, and I like to ask them if they want to help out in the kitchen. My kids (and their friends) love being in the kitchen. It&#8217;s the center of our home. Most of their friends know that I&#8217;m a Recipe Developer and Cookbook Author and that I&#8217;m always taking pictures in the kitchen. We made these Sausage-Vegetable Pizzas the other day, and they had a blast. Making pizzas is a fun kid&#8217;s activity. I love to set up an array of toppings, and I let them create their own. Try this for an awesome summer activity.</h3>

<h3>Since Mother&#8217;s Day is this weekend, I thought I would share a super easy recipe from my new cookbook, <a href="http://www.ingredientsinc.net/400-best-sandwich-recipes/">&#8220;400 Best Sandwiches: From Burgers &amp; Classics to Wraps &amp; Condiments&#8221;</a>. These Tomato, Fresh Herbs and Feta Crostini would be considered an open-face sandwich and a simple spring appetizer that is pretty, fresh and versatile with a brunch, lunch or dinner menu. I am making this recipe today along with 4 other recipes on Nashville&#8217;s Newschannel 5 <a href="http://www.newschannel5.com/category/85286/talk-of-the-town?redirected=true">&#8220;Talk of the Town&#8221;</a>. My television segment will air at 11 a.m. central as well as on Comcast channel 50 at 12 p.m., 4 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Monday. <h3>I love super easy recipes that have only a few ingredients but still taste like a million bucks. This 3 ingredient recipe for Apple Tart is as easy as can be. I used <a href="http://www.puffpastry.com/">Puff Pastry</a>, fresh apples, granulated sugar, and that was it. It&#8217;s so easy to prepare, and it&#8217;s perfect for dessert, brunch or even an afternoon snack (my kids devoured this after school).</h3>
