Train with an Olympian in Saint Lucia

February 03, 2014

Can’t make it to Sochi this year?  Saint Lucia is your next best option!  At The Body Holiday, Saint Lucia’s health and wellness resort, you can personally train and get back in shape with three top former Olympian athletes for a full week!  Their Well Fit Retreats, a mini-version of an Olympic training camp, is returning this spring.  From Monday, March 31 to Friday, April 4 and Monday, April 7 to Friday, April 11, the special program, designed by twice Olympic gold medalist Daley Thomson, will have you toned in no time – long before the summer hits!

Former Olympians Danny Crates, Sharron Davies, and Ayo Falola are hosting this year’s retreat and will be on-property to lead activities including a daily boot camp class, hosted dinners, group breakfast with a resident nutritionist, and complimentary BMI and blood pressure readings. Programming will include organized activities that blend cardio, strength training, core strengthening, fitness yoga, running, flexibility, obstacles, and more.

Danny Crates  (3/31 – 4/4)

Paralympic gold medalist, World champion, European champion, Paralympic World Cup winner and world record holder and, most recently host of his own BBC radio show and the face of Channel 4′s athletics coverage at the London 2012 Paralympic games.

 Sharron Davies (3/31 – 4/11)

Sharron Davies is an immensely successful British swimmer and broadcaster who occupies a position as one of the UK’s best known and most popular women since she burst onto the scene as a 13-year-old Olympian in 1976. Sharron has represented as a British Olympic Ambassador in London as well as pool side getting Michael Phelp’s first interview after becoming the world’s most decorated Olympian.

Ayo Falola  (3/31 – 4/4)

Ayo has been coaching for over fifteen years upon retiring himself from his sprinting career.  His pedigree is evident by the illustrious list of athletes he has coached during that time, most notably Danny Crates; Paralympic Gold Medalist in 2008, Paralympic Bronze medalist in 2004, medalist at World Championships, European Championships and World Record Holder, Donna Fraser;  4 time Olympian and 4th place at 2000 Olympics, medalist at World, European and Commonwealth levels, Vernicha James;  World and European Junior Champion, Marilyn Okoro; Olympian, medalist at World and European Championships, Jo Fenn; Olympian and World Indoor Medalist.

The Body Holiday, St. Lucia’s premiere all-inclusive resort dedicated to health and well-being, re-opened its doors in October 2011 following a $20 million renovation that touched on nearly every aspect of the property.  The 154-room all-inclusive wellness resort sits directly on a private bay and is surrounded by 42 acres of lush tropical gardens. Inclusive rates include daily spa treatments and a variety of on-site activities, including fencing, archery, yoga, Pilates, and scuba diving, wakeboarding, and T’ai Chi.
