I know it’s my second apple related post this week, but my kids and I have been so into apples lately. We all have been craving a warm apple pie so I love this Apple Pie recipe from my friend, Rosemary. This was SO good! My youngest son, Zachary, said it was “spectacular”. This Apple Pie recipe is super easy too and lighter than most, and it’s great with or without a scoop of ice cream. See why to eat more apples in my post on the Health Benefits of Apples. 1/4 cup unsalted butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
8 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
2. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in flour to form a paste. Add water and brown sugar, and bring to a boil. Reduce temperature and let simmer.
2. Place the bottom crust in your pan. Fill with apples, mounded slightly. Cover with a lattice work of crust. Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust. Pour slowly so that it does not run off.
3. Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Reduce the temperature to 350F. Continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes, until apples are soft.
