Peppermint Milkshakes: Only 3 Ingredients
December 15, 2011I first made this recipe for Peppermint Milkshakes on my blog in December of 2008 when I literally threw three ingredients together in a blender for my kids instead of taking them to get peppermint ice cream. Since then, I have been making these religiously for parties and for my 3 kids. It has been one of the most heavenly requested recipes from my children’s friends who have come to my house and tried them. Whenever I’m invited to a holiday party, I typically get asked to make these. This past sunday night, I made them for 28 people, and it was beyond an absolute hit. So many requested me to post the infamous recipe one more time so they can make them for their family Christmas events. Here it is…Enjoy!
Peppermint Milkshakes
Prep:
15 minutes
Yield:
12 servings
Ingredients
8 cups vanilla ice cream or low-fat vanilla yogurt
2 cups skim milk
1 cup crushed peppermint candies (about 50)
Whipped topping, peppermint sticks, crushed peppermint
2 cups skim milk
1 cup crushed peppermint candies (about 50)
Whipped topping, peppermint sticks, crushed peppermint
Preparation
1. Combine ice cream, milk and crushed peppermint in a container of an electric blender; cover and process until smooth. Repeat procedure with remaining ingredients. Serve in small glasses topped with whipped cream, peppermint sticks and crushed peppermint.
Tip: I crushed the peppermint in a food processor. Another way is to put candy in a heavy-duty resealable plastic bag; seal. Using a hammer, rolling pin or flat side of a meat mallet, pound the candy on a sturdy countertop until crushed.

I'm going to see my mom this weekend and HAVE to make this for her. She LOVES peppermint stick ice cream, and now that Friendly's has shut down, she's lost her supplier. So excited to whip this up for her! Happy New Year !

It's my birthday today and I think I'll have to make this as a treat for myself. It looks amazing and your pictures are gorgeous! Do you think this would work with Greek yogurt? Thanks!

Such a fun holiday treat! I'd need to buy a much better blender to make them for 28.

We have made this for years. It is our tradition when we take down the Christmas tree. We take all the left over candy canes and stick 'em in the blender and then we add them to either vanilla ice cream or chocolate ice cream along with the skim milk.
